The Best for the World recognition is administered by B Lab, the global non-profit that certifies and supports Certified B Corporations, which are for-profit companies dedicated to using business as a force for good. 1,000 B Corps from 44 countries were named to the 2019 Best for the World lists, including Patagonia, Dr. Bronners, TOMS and Seventh Generation. The 2019 Best for the World honorees are determined based on the verified B Impact Assessments of Certified B Corporations.
Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. Today, there are approximately 3,000 Certified B Corporations across 64 countries and 150 industries, unified by a common goal to redefine success in business.

The B Corp Best for the World For Workers list is produced by the nonprofit B Lab and determined by the verified score of the Workers portion of the B Impact Assessment of Certified B Corporations as of December 31, 2018. Only Certified B Corporations with a Reviewed Version 3 or 4 B Impact Assessment (including both phone and document reviews by B Lab Staff with scores transparent online) are eligible for inclusion on the Best for the World list. Honorees featured on Best for Workers lists scored in the top 10th percentile of all Certified B Corporations in the Workers section of the assessment. To be a Best For The World: Workers honoree, a company is assessed for its relationship with its workforce. The B Impact Assessment Workers category measures how the company treats its workers through compensation, benefits, training and ownership opportunities provided to workers. The category also focuses on the overall work environment within the company by assessing management/worker communication, job flexibility, corporate culture, and worker health and safety practices. Of the 2,817 companies that were considered, 212 were honored, representing approximately 8%.
