Webinar: Navigating the Mixed Market & Economic Signals During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The U.S. economy is facing a deep decline at the same time that markets are experiencing record-setting rallies.

The COVID-19 pandemic caused the fastest market collapse on record during the first quarter, and we are in the midst of the worst economic contraction since World War II. Meanwhile, we have also witnessed the fastest recovery in history, with the S&P 500 less than 10% away from its all-time highs. We attempt to explain what markets are pricing relative to what we’re seeing in economic data. Suffice it to say, we remain concerned that despite evidence of green shoots of an economic recovery, particularly as the economy begins to open up, the recent market rally leaves little room for error, and we remain wary of potential volatility over the next few months as the gap between economic expectations and current market prices remains wide.

You can also see our second quarter market overview for our perspective on the seeming contradictions at work.
